Introducing Dating Eternaviews
Why create a Dating Eternaview?
We believe that a dating Eternaview is a great way to help find that special someone. We know that first dates can bring with them a lot of unknowns…
- Does the person actually look like their photo?
- What does their voice sound like?
- Are they awkward or, alternately, too smooth?
- Would I feel safe meeting them in person?
Well, a dating Eternaview allows a creator to express themself in ways that questionnaires, short videos or photos cannot capture. A creator can use just about any webcam or smartphone to record themselves answering the ~100 or so questions in our template.
Depending on the number of questions you answer (and how many re-takes you do), it takes anywhere from thirty minutes to a few hours… an investment of time that we think is well worth it based on the impact it can have on your personal life.
Once your recording is done, it’s instantly interactive. It also allows a potential partner – the viewer – to engage with your Eternaview before the two of you decide to actually meet up. They can ask questions to your recording and watch the responses. We use AI, but only for the system to understand what the viewer is asking and to retrieve the best answer… not to make up or generate an answer.
Being able to interact with a dating Eternaview helps potential partners avoid the stress of having to guess what a first date would be like or having to quickly reject anyone. Even a more traditional, anonymous video chat can take a lot of mental energy and potentially lead to deflating rejection.
An Eternaview is by no means a substitute for an in person date. Rather, the creation of an Eternaview is designed to increase the chances of that in person date actually happening in the first place.
Tips on Recording...
Positioning
One approach for recording your Eternaview is to sit fairly still like you might in a typical interview or conversation, keep the camera steady, maintain the same background, and stay a constant distance from the camera throughout creation of your Eternaview.
That said, it’s also perfectly fine to have fun with it and move the camera around in order to conduct the interview across a range of locations. For instance, questions such as “Can you play the piano?” and “What do you like to cook?” and “Do you know how to dance?” may be a great opportunity to record your skills. Then, when a viewer asks a similar question, the video of you performing the activity will play back.
You want viewers of your recording to feel that they are interacting with you directly. So, if using a PC, mobile phone, or tablet to record, look directly at the device when recording your answers.
If using a desktop computer (or other device without a built-in camera or webcam), be sure to position your webcam relative to the monitor in a way that it appears you are looking towards the webcam when addressing the question.
Generally you want the camera or webcam at or slightly above your eye level, but below your hairline. You don’t want the camera or webcam pointing up or down at you. You can use a tripod for a mobile phone or anything handy to raise up your other devices to get them to the proper level.
Lighting and Clothing
Try to use consistent lighting over the course of the interview, so that all your answers look somewhat consistent.
You need a good-lighting source. Avoid low lighting or backlighting, whether that be from a natural source (a window behind you) or artificial source (light fixtures behind you). You want to light from the front.
Light through a window can sometimes work, if it’s not too direct, but if the outdoor lighting is going to change over the course of the interview, an artificial source is best. It’s best if that light is soft – a ring light or paper lantern is always a great option – but other artificial sources, such as a lamp with a shade, are also fine as long as the light is not bright and not direct. LED lights probably work best. Incandescent may work but avoid fluorescent lights. The artificial light source is best placed above the recording device and in between the recording device and you.
Avoid wearing stripes, polka dots, plaid, and other patterns that could create distortions or other unpleasant effects in the image. Solid colors probably work best.
Sharing...
Eternaview is not an end-to-end dating app. That’s by design to save you time and effort.
Hundreds, if not thousands, of dating apps have failed because they don’t get the critical mass of users that’s necessary for you to find a potential match near to where you live.
Instead, Eternaview lets you create an interactive video that you can share directly with potential matches on any platform you prefer. By focusing on providing you with a powerful tool rather than a closed network, we eliminate the barriers that often make new dating apps ineffective.
After you create an Eternaview, you will be provided a link to your Eternaview that can be shared. There is no single set way to share it.
Some dating apps will allow you to share a link in your profile section, enabling you to share it before you both swipe right. Sometimes it’s only practical or most timely afterwards. Of course you can also introduce it in your your profile indirectly, and make your profile more intriguing by adding something like “Feel free to ask if you’d like to chat with my interactive video!”
You can also mention and share a link to your Eternaview through social media, although you’ll have to use your own discretion as to what you want to post publicly, what belongs just in a DM to someone, etc.
If viewers are interested in following up with you after viewing your Eternaview, they can message you on whatever dating or social platform you initially shared it on.
If you have the potential recipient’s email, you can also send them an invite to view your Eternaview (similar to just sharing a link).
Or maybe you have a friend that will share it with one of their friends or acquaintances to help judge if there’s a potential match.
